A Year In Photography 2020

β˜ƒπŸ€A YEAR IN PHOTOGRAPHY 2020πŸ€β˜ƒ

Well, what can I say about 2020 that has not already been said. πŸ’¬It was (I’m using past tense because I want it to be over so fast) the worst year in living memory for photography and the event business.

Many things happened this year, many people found themselves, lost themselves, embarked on new mental adventures and made some promising decisions.

The year began so marvellously and so full of optimism. πŸ™‚ In week one of January I was at work and throughout the month, ending with a commissioned event shoot at a European Summit. February was also sparky, corporate headshots, product shoots and private portrait photography. March came and then….. πŸ”¬πŸ¦ πŸ’£β˜’️🚫

In the midst of it, people were talking and revolting against injustices. There was a crisis of conscience and a global shift in people’s complacency towards deadly interactions with law enforcement. Street photography and documentary photography came into play.

Other things happened in parallel. Some of my work was being displayed in exhibitions, editorials and even the classrooms. Many of us went back to nature and even allowed ourselves to bake bread. Naturally, one had to capture some of the images in that space.

So this potpourri of photos and moving images not only captures the ones that were taken in 2020, but also a few that made an impact in 2020 and had a new and special meaning. One of the backing tracks is aptly titled ‘Finding Me’. πŸ§©πŸ€”πŸŽ©πŸ’‘πŸ”ŽπŸ§ΎπŸ“’πŸ’πŸŽ™πŸ€

It is a year that will not be forgotten in a hurry. It will be remembered and looked upon, not fondly, but with the disdain it so deserves. Be gone 2020. Be gone negativity. Be gone!
