We want OUR Sovereignty back!

We want our Sovereignty back? I hear this all the time in relation to Brexit, but what does it all mean? Some would argue that you’ve always had it, while others believe the resolution to this problem is Brexit itself.

This blog title is misleading, it really is not about Brexit or the UK gaining ‘its sovereignty’. I was just playing with the word Sovereignty as it seems to be a word and/or phrase I see and hear all the time. The blog is about the UK based magazine. The irony of being a columnist for a magazine, is that you cannot really write about the magazine in the magazine and instead I have to resort to writing about it in my professional website blog.

One of my articles was about the expat community in Switzerland and the fact that the Magazine was becoming an expat in its own right. They are a UK based organisation that now have tentacles in most of the main countries in Europe, in North America, Canada and Singapore. Watch this space for further inroads into Asia.

The Magazine itself is expanding at a rate that is surely admirable to those that dare to call themselves its competitor as well as those watching from a distance. One needs to mention again that it is a very high quality, thought-provoking and informative magazine that is distributed in the business and first class lounges of the major airports in the European countries that it has a presence. This in itself is not an easy feat and it just shows what a cut above they are with a distribution arm that is working tirelessly to ensure this is achieved.

Other magazines may have an online, digital, ‘download via an app’ presence in the market place – but that is a form that is available to the masses. This magazine has a select clientele and targeted readers – i.e. Businesses, Entrepreneurs, Philanthropists, Executives, C Level Management, Political Leaders and Top Level Organisations and therefore has wisely targeted their distribution. They are available in Print, Digital and Online and their USP is where their print magazines are distributed – namely exclusive places at airports and global embasses. Digital and Online versions can be viewed on their website as well as the other mass forms mentioned above – e.g. via Apps etc.

The group has many print publications/magazines, top class events, award shows, radio and TV channel; and targeted clubs. The Authors club and awards has taken on a life of its own and I believe this will or is the case with the Magazine itself.

Let’s talk about my latest Cover Shoot for the Magazine. This I’m sure has been seen elsewhere, but I would like to record it in my May 2019 blog along with my above thoughts on the magazine.

I had the pleasure of working with Zalina Wälchli again. Zalina is an international makeup artist that has worked with many of the top photographers, fashion houses, celebrities and magazines. It was an exciting shoot and collaboration. Zalina and I have worked together before on projects and we will most definitely continue to work together for cover shoots and other projects. The way Zalina transforms her subjects leaves me with little work as a photographer. She is an amazing artist, pleasurable company and such a genuine person who really cares about making her subject the best they can possibly be. Take a look at some of her incredible work on her website as follows:- zalinawalchlimakeup.com. There are many many facets to Zalina, her work and business. Keep a look out for her and the reveal of some of the other services and specialist areas of work she provides for her clients.

Back to the shoot. The magazine had their Swiss launch with the Expat Expo and are firmly in the process of solidifying their reach and interest in the Swiss market. In my previous blog, I talked about the cover shoot for the launch. This new cover, to be released and available at the locations mentioned, will be the June 2019 Edition.

Magazine June 2019 Global Edition

Well enough for now. I just wanted to share the big story of the month in terms of the shoot and as you can see above the Cover is graced by Denise Nickerson and Michelle Gulliano the founders of Salt Consulting and Women Rock Switzerland. The content has at least 30 women who are ‘rocking’ Switzerland with their innovative businesses, their entrepreneurial adventures and many philanthropic and charitable works. My regular column: Through the camera lens – Elaine Pringle-Schwitter Event Photography Stories is there with my coverage of one of the many events that I do within the year. It is a special edition and you can get your copy when it is released in June. Printed copies can be obtained in business and first class lounges in the main Swiss, Germany and UK airports. Copies can also be obtained digitally and online through various portals and apps that are commonly used by various magazine publications.

As a photographer it is always nice to receive a review of a shoot from a client. This one came in video form. Take a look. Wouldn’t you be satisfied with feedback like this from your clients? Many thanks Denise and Michelle. It was a pleasure to work with you both and I’m sure your cover will be treasured for years to come.
