I posted a photo on my Facebook account where a viewer said that ‘If it wasn’t for the scooter and electrics’ then one would believe it was taken 100/150 years ago. I’ve fallen in love again with vintage images and had the opportunity to develop some in recent weeks. I’m not sure what has sparked this. Is it because it takes me back to old picture books owned by my parents that I used to trawl through – getting lost in the images of bygone years or perhaps a recent visit to a disused mine why my recent focus has been in this direction? Nevertheless, I am loving some of the results created and would hope for a mini revival in this direction. Don’t be surprised if you see more of this style of photography loaded onto my site in the near future.
The above photo was taken in Cannobio, Italy. The attic room in an old vintage house on a vineyard. It is my version of the famous ‘Unmade bed’. See if you spot the electrics and scooter and perhaps the modern things that give away the vintage guise of the following images.
On another note, this got me thinking about what could potentially be viewed as vintage photography in say 100/150 years time. I’d be interested in your thoughts, but for now here are some of my favourite recent shots developed and turned into vintage images as well as a couple old favourites converted.
