A year into blogging and what a year it has been. This month, I am quite excited about my recent work and the positive responses received. I created an album on my FB Page called Woman’s Glory – Female Portraiture. How did that come about? Well, it was the post-production of a portrait shoot for a client who wanted some images for her business profile, CV and general professional use. In the process, we took some informal shots where she was aware this was for her personal and not necessarily professional use. What was interesting about these images was that you could see the carefree look in her expressions, the ‘more at ease and comfortable with herself ‘ look. She loved them and in fact used one or two for professional use instead of the official ones, as she believed it showed HER!
This followed on from my shoot, where I captured some special shots below the neck that the lens loved. There was one shot where you could barely see the client’s face, yet it told more than if she was at full exposure with all the necessary camera lighting in place. We both loved it and to me it was the best. Her femininity was subtle but clear and nothing was taken away from her beauty.
Thereafter, it got me thinking during the shoots of subsequent clients and events. Can I recreate that image for the woman in the group/shoot? I’ve got to try… So I did. With the first 2 shoots, I was happy with the results and thought, this is a MUST for all my future assignments – with the agreement of the client/s and participant/s.
Now the question came to me as I looked at the images thus far (at the time I had 7). Can a woman look feminine without her hair? I remembered the phrase very well from childhood – ‘A woman’s glory is her hair’. Can a portrait be interesting with only the face in shot? So, I was determined to do just that. Recreate that wonderful image from the portrait shoot and ‘maintain her glory’.
Latest news!!! It’s the most viewed album on my FB page. .
This is an ongoing album and if you would like to be a part of it, please contact me on the channels provided.
